Carlos got his DVM at the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro, Vila Real, Portugal in 1998. He worked as general practitioner for 3 years until he moved to France to complete a surgical internship at the Bardet´s Surgical Referral Clinic. Here, he became an official Resident in Small Animal Surgery and got his Diploma by the ECVS afterwards. He had worked as Specialist Surgeon in referral hospitals in Porto and in Aberdeen. He joined the Service of Surgery at Centro Hospitalar Veterinário, Porto, Portugal since 2013 where he performs Soft Tissue Surgery, Trauma, Orthopedics, and Neurosurgery. He also worked in University of Glasgow´s Small Animal Hospital between 2017-2019 as a Senior Specialist Surgeon in Soft Tissue and later moved to the University of Edinburgh. He is also involved in many national and international congresses and courses. He is an author of several publications, both in national and international specialized journals.
